During their time in prison, the pair set up several programs, such as art classes, computer classes and computer classes.
Chan was ordained as a Pastor in 2015 after becoming a Christian within prison.
Through the church he met his wife, Febyanti Herewila, who is also a Pastor. They were married on April 27, 2015, two days before Chan’s execution.
During the early hours of April 29, 2015, Chan was executed along with seven other drug criminals on the prison island of Nusakambangan. He died singing.

Andrew Chan was a first generation Australian. In his teenage years he became involved with drug use.
In 2005 Chan was arrested as part of the Bali Nine, a drug smuggling ring attempting to collectively export 8.3kgs of heroin out of Dempasar, Indonesia and into Sydney, Australia. In 2006, Chan was given the death penalty, along with fellow Bali Nine leader Myuran Sukumaran.
