In, 2003, Anderson was arrested in Jakarta for possession of 51g of heroin. During his arrest he was shot in the leg as a way for the police to more easily apprehend him. He continued to have issues with his wound until his death.

 

Anderson was sentenced to death in 2004. Officials believed him to be a member of a local drug ring.

 

Anderson was incorrectly identified as a Ghanaian citizen during his arrest because he was using a fake Ghanaian passport. Because of this misidentification, he was never visited by representatives from Ghana or from Nigeria during his incarceration. He did not apply for any appeals during his incarseration, until the beginning of 2015.

 

During the early hours of April 29, 2015, Anderson was executed along with seven other drug criminals on the prison island of Nusakambangan.
