Sylvester Obiekwe Nwolise

Nigeria

1968 – April 29 2015

In 2003, Nwolise was given the death penalty after attempting to smuggle 1.5kgs of heroin from Pakistan into Jakarta two years earlier. In 2007, while in prison he met his wife, an Indonesian woman who is known to the public as Ms. Fatimah. She was visiting another inmate at the time.  The couple had two children.

Over the course of his incarceration, Nwolise continued to deal drugs in prison. After moving prisons he was found to still be dealing drugs, so two months prior to his execution he was moved to an isolation cell.

During the early hours of April 29, 2015, Nwolise was executed along with seven other drug criminals on the prison island of Nusakambangan.
